    Airdrop On an unsupported mac

AirDrop is the extremely easy local peer-to-peer file transfer tool that is built into Mac OS X 10.7, it allows you to easily send and receive files wirelessly over a network just by dragging and dropping. It’s a great addition to Lion, but it’s not supported on all Macs (some 2008 model MacBook, MacBook Pros, some…[Read more]

AirDrop ? Only with some Macs!
AirDrop not working for you on your Mac? Perhaps it’s not compatible. Apple has issued a knowledge base article showing the Macs AirDrop does work with. Essentially, if you have a Mac from the last three years you are probably OK, but check the list below to be sure. If it’s not supported in…[Read more]

Have the slow internet blues? Apple reportedly will allow you to use their network at their stores to get Lion. I can see this with a notebook. But kinda wonder about lugging your iMac up to the Apple Store with a long extension cord. :-)

    Your Lion Speak’s:

Well Jonsey has blogged about this else ware, but a fringe benefit of Lion is that some “FREE” high quality voices are available for download from Apple. Goto “System Preferences” and then click on ‘Speech’. On system voice click on the up/down gadget and then select “customize”. From there pick a few voices you want…[Read more]

    The first five days:
I read over and over again the morning of July20th (I think it was) that Lion was being released. Because i work nights I was checking often in the wee hours of the morning before the sun shines even. Then after I got home from work I checked just after 8:00 AM CST and low and behold it was available.

So I hit the purchase…[Read more]

Same thing happened to me, but I did post CNN’s instructions link ASAP @ http://acd.us/social/archives/1147 trying to prevent it from happening to everybody else, who tries to install Lion without reading the instructions.

I did the same thing on my Mac Pro because I was eager to jump in. I did make a Lion disc afterwards when I installed it on my Macbook Pro. Loving Lion so far.

After a really straight forward install, I find the biggest thing is getting used to the new gestures and Mail. I like the new layout but sometimes things that I delete don’t seem to disappear immediately as I expect. I like the full page apps and pushing expose/spaces around with 4 fingers.

I agree on the Spaces! I love bouncing between my Spaces with my trackpad. It’s so much easier.

Is it just me, or does  Mail send the email, then AFTER its sent put itself in Drafts sidebar folder (like you did NOT send the email yet)? I noticed this immediately, but it also shows up in the Sent folder.

Lion has been going smoothly for me so far. I’m getting used to the trackpad more than anything else. I have to admit I’m not a gigantic fan of the monochrome scheme for finder and other things. A few of my programs broke, but most are not a big deal. I’ll be posting updates here and there about certain areas over the next week or two.

If you want to create an install DVD of Lion you will need to do so immediately after you download the Lion installer, and before you actually install it. It is easy to do. find the Lion installer (it should be in Applications) and right click (Control click) on it, click on Show Package Contents, then head down to the Contents folder and within…[Read more]

Lion hides the Restoration partition so that Disk Utility can not see it. One can however confirm it is there using Terminal and the command ’diskutil list’.
